Toxic chloride compounds are currently used in hot end tempering, which on the one hand necessitate costly extraction systems and on the other hand expose employees in the relevant work area to health hazards.

By using a new technology, the aim of this project was to demonstrate that a reduction in pollutants can be accompanied by an improvement in glass quality. This should make it possible to produce thinner-walled and thus weight-reduced glass.

With the help of the research project, equipment for the flat glass and hollow glass industry was developed and brought to market.
